Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton has opened an investigation into Lululemon USA Inc., alleging the athletic apparel company may have misled consumers about the safety of its products, including the potential presence of toxic “forever chemicals,” his office announced.
According to a press release, the investigation will examine whether Lululemon’s clothing contains per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances, or PFAS—synthetic chemicals.
The chemicals have been linked to health risks such as endocrine disruption, infertility, and cancer.
PFAS are commonly known as “forever chemicals” because they do not break down easily in the environment or the human body.
Paxton’s office said it will also review whether Lululemon’s marketing created consumer expectations that its products are free from harmful chemicals.
The probe will assess the company’s restricted substances list, testing practices, and supply chain oversight to determine whether its products comply with the safety standards Lululemon claims to follow.
Lululemon is the latest clothes company to be investigated by Paxton.
Citing “serious concerns about its reliance on forced labor, the use of unsafe product materials, and deceptive marketing practices.”Paxton opened an investigation into Shein in late 2025.
